The donkey represents 'Tamogun' (the qualities of ignorance, lethargy, and darkness). Goddesses like Kaalratri and Sheetala Mata ride the donkey, symbolizing their power to control, absorb, or destroy the dark, lethargic, and diseased energies of the universe.

Like all Ekadashis, consuming rice, wheat, lentils, onion, garlic, and non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited. One should also avoid anger, lying, and sleeping during the day. Plucking leaves from the Amla tree on this day is also forbidden; pick them a day earlier if needed.

This period triggers spiritual purification and detachment. While it favors intuition and religious activities, it can cause separation from loved ones, sudden losses, or surgeries.

It is considered a "Hard" placement because it brings sudden changes and transformation. However, it is not "dangerous" if the person accepts discipline. It makes the person incredibly resilient and spiritually deep.
