Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on Thursday, 2 April 2026. Even though the Purnima Tithi begins on April 1, the festival is observed on April 2 based on the Udaya Tithi (sunrise) rule in Vedic astrology.

Bhaumvati Amavasya is special because it combines the energy of Amavasya (Ancestors) and Tuesday (Mars). It is a rare occurrence that allows a person to fix both Pitra Dosh (Ancestral Faults) and Mangal Dosh (Mars Affliction) on the same day.

The word is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Paap" meaning sins, and "Mochani" meaning the remover or destroyer. Therefore, observing this Ekadashi fast destroys all conscious and unconscious sins committed by a person, including severe sins like Brahmahatya.
